House committee directs the government to rescue Nepalis living in Afghanistan immediately
KATHMANDU: AUGUST 15 – The International Relations Committee of the House of Representatives has directed the government to immediately rescue the Nepalis in Afghanistan. After calling Foreign Secretary Bharat Raj Paudyal for a discussion on Sunday, the committee was directed to start immediate rescue work of Nepalis in Afghanistan.
The committee has instructed to start the rescue work immediately after ascertaining the number of Nepalis in Afghanistan, their condition and how easy it is to rescue them by air or transfer them to other countries.

During the meeting, Secretary Poudyal informed that it was formed under the leadership of Joint Secretary of the Ministry of Foreign Affairs Harishchandra Ghimire to understand the Nepalis there and rescue them as per the need. He said that so far only 1,400 Nepalis who have gone to Afghanistan are in the government’s statistics and the work of those who have gone informally is being compiled.
