Power restored in 650 houses after two months
KASKI: AUGUST 15 – Madi Rural Municipality-1in Kaski has been connected with the central transmission line of the Nepal Electricity Authority (NEA). Six hundred and fifty households at Sikles, Parche and Khilang villages had been facing power outages since June 15.
Sikles is one of the major touristic sites in Kaski. The power was restored on Saturday with the help of the national grid. The June 15 floods in the Madi River damaged the local hydropower project, bringing the power supply to a complete halt.
Rural Municipality Chair Bed Bahadur Gurung on Saturday inaugurated the power supply from the national grid by switching on a collective electric meter. There is the collective meter box for 650 households for the time being as it will take time to fix an individual meter box, it is said.
The disruption of power supply had hampered the service delivery of ward offices, banks, cooperatives and ACAP offices and so on. It had its implications on telecommunications as well. The flood had damaged around a half dozen of hydropower projects including the under-construction based on the Madi River banks.
