NEW DELHI: AUGUST 15 – Today is the 75th Independence Day of India, the day India became independent from British rule. The Government of India has decided to celebrate this day as the Amrit Mahotsav of Independence.

According to the Indian media, there will be celebrations and festivities all over the country on the occasion of Independence Day. Independence Day programs will be held at various levels of ministries, state governments, military forces, administrative bodies and the people.

Indian Prime Minister Narendra Madi has sent his best wishes on social media this morning. After reaching Rajghat, he laid a wreath at Mahatma Gandhi’s tomb and circumambulated it. In a short while, Prime Minister Modi is scheduled to address the nation by waving the flag at the Red Fort.

To celebrate the 75th Independence Day, Prime Minister Modi launched the ‘Amrit Mahotsav of Independence’ in March 2021 from the Sabarmati Ashram in Ahmedabad, Gujarat. The festival is said to run till August 15, 2023.
