Five-goal Man United thrash Leeds in opener as Bruno Fernandes grabs hat-trick

KATHMANDU: AUGUST 14 – Manchester United has made a great start in the English Premier League. Portuguese midfielder Bruno Fernandes scored his first hat-trick for Man United as Leeds lost 5–1.

Mason Greenwood and Fred scored another goal each to give Man United the lead in Saturday’s game.

This is the first hat-trick by a Man United player since Robin van Persie in 2013. Van Persie scored a hat-trick in the game against Aston Villa. Bruno joined Man United in January 2020.

Leeds United returned only one goal. Leeds’ Luke Ayling scored a goal.

Ole Gunnar Solskjaer’s scored the first goal for the home side in the 30th minute for Man United. Fernandes scored the first goal for the team on a pass from Paul Pogba.

Luke Ayling scored early in the second half to level the game at 1-1. But Leeds were stunned when Man United added three goals in the 8th minute. In the 52nd minute, Mason Greenwood gave the team the lead by scoring on a pass from Pogba.

Two minutes later, in Pogba’s pass, Bruno scored the second individual goal and the third for the team. Bruno completed a hat-trick in the 60th minute to give Man United an impressive victory. Fred scored the fifth goal for United in the 68th minute.

For the first time since the COVID-19 epidemic, supporters went to the field to support the team. The tournament is being played today between Burnley and Brighton, Chelsea and Crystal Palace, Everton and Southampton, Leicester and Wolves, Watford and Aston Villa and Liverpool and Norwich City.
