Mask Campaign: Free masks for more than 49,000 people
KATHMANDU: AUGUST 14 – In the past 24 hours, free masks have been distributed to 49,171 people under the ‘Tapai Ko Mask Khoi? (Where is your mask?)’ Program run by the Nepal Police for the prevention and reduction of risk of COVID-19 infection. Under the program, free masks have been distributed to a total of 798,619 people since April 19.
In view of the increasing incidence of COVID-19 infection with the new variant, the Nepal Police with the slogan ‘Let’s protect ourselves from infection and save others’ in order to properly implement the security measures prescribed to prevent the infection in view of the problems and challenges it may create. It is conducting various awareness programs as a campaign.
A total of 180 people have been fined Rs 18,000 for violating the prohibitory order issued by the local administration for the prevention and control of COVID-19. In the process, 9,025 people violating health standards have been detained and released. In addition, 46,819 people have been alerted under 253 awareness programs including miking, placards and pamphlets across the country.
