Public toilet in Biratnagar bus park
BIRATNAGAR: AUGUST 13 – A well-equipped public toilet has been constructed in Biratnagar Bus Park. The toilet has been constructed on the initiative of the Biratnagar Bus Park Management Committee. Mayor of Biratnagar Metropolitan City Bhim Parajuli inaugurated the toilet constructed at a cost of Rs 2.753 million on Friday.
The Biratnagar Metropolitan City has made it clear that it plans to build more public toilets in this way. Mayor Parajuli said that the work is being done in a planned manner as the complaints of lack of public toilets in the main intersections of Biratnagar are coming from the citizens. Ward Chairman of Ward No. 11 Tirthendra Neupane and Chief Administrative Officer of the Kathmandu Metropolitan Corporation Umesh Basnet were also present for the inauguration of the toilet.
City Guard Chief Rajan Poudel, journalist Yagya Sharma, Rajendra Dhakal, former chairman of Tole Development Khagendra Niraula and Secretary of the Senior Citizens’ State Committee Yagneshwor Niraula were present. Baburam Kattel of the trade union, Bhim Adhikari of the independent trade union, transport businessmen and officials of the Tole development organization were present.
The toilet was not built more than two years after the construction of the bus park. Although toilets were constructed for office purposes inside the new terminal building of the bus park, citizens were forced to defecate in the open.
Secretary of the Bus Park Management Committee and Public Toilet Users Committee Uttam Bahadur Chaulagain informed that the bus park management committee with the support of the corporation is keeping in view the obligations of the citizens. He said that the toilets constructed in collaboration with the corporation have been made separate for the disabled, men and women. The committee has stated that anyone who goes to this toilet will not be allowed to defecate for free.
