Devotees performs Nag worship at Nagpokhari from outside [Photos]
KATHMANDU: AUGUST 13 – Nag Panchami, which is celebrated every year on the day of Shrawan Shukla Panchami, is being celebrated today by worshipping the snake as per tradition. Similarly, various lakes are also worshipped in Nag Panchami.

Snakes and scorpions are worshipped by sticking pictures of Nag in the house. In Nag Panchami, it is believed that worshipping a giant creature like a snake will reduce its fear. In the valley today, fairs are held at Pashupati’s Vasuki, Nagpokhari, Toudaha and other places.
However, as the infection of COVID-19 is still going on this year, Nag Panchami worshipping is being done with caution.

Due to COVID-19, devotees have worshipped at Nagpokhari in Naxal of Kathmandu from outside the pond premises. After barring the devotees from entering the pond premises, they returned after worshipping the serpent idol outside the pond. The idol of the serpent in the pond was worshipped by certain priests.
