Authorities raid BP Koirala Institute
DHARAN: AUGUST 12 – A team from the Central Office of the Commission for Investigation of Abuse of Authority and the Regional Office Itahari have raided the BP Koirala Institute of Health Sciences in Dharan. The team raided the establishment on Thursday and seized important documents.
Doctors and employees have been agitating for a long time saying that the officials of the establishment have committed corruption in the areas of purchase of medicines, equipment, internet and electricity supply.
A task force formed by the government to investigate the matter also found corruption in the establishment.
The agitation has been postponed after the government expressed its commitment to remove the current Vice-Chancellor Gyanendra Giri in the talks with the agitating doctors and students.
A police team led by SSP Tek Bahadur Tamang has arrived in Dharan from the authorities. A team of the authority has arrived in Dharan to investigate the irregularities in the procurement and construction of various equipment and machines of BP.
The team of the authority is currently discussing the necessary documents with the employees of the establishment. They have been agitating in BP for the past two months demanding an investigation into the irregularities and action against the culprits.
