Lumbini State: No-confidence motion being tabled

KATHMANDU: AUGUST 11 – A special session of the state assembly is starting to discuss the no-confidence motion filed against Lumbini Chief Minister Shankar Pokharel. A special session of the state assembly is scheduled to be held at 1 pm to discuss the no-confidence motion.

Opposition parties had filed a no-confidence motion against Chief Minister Pokharel at the Provincial Assembly Secretariat on August 3. Opposition Nepali Congress, CPN (Maoist Center), JSP, Nepal and Rastriya Janamorcha have filed a no-confidence motion against Pokhrel. The no-confidence motion against Chief Minister Pokharel will be discussed through today’s special session.

Chief Minister Pokharel, who was in the minority in the state assembly in April, is holding the government under various pretexts.

Lumbini, which has 87 members, has only 80 members after the action and resignation case. A majority requires 41 members. The opposition alliance has 42 members, including 19 from the Congress, 19 from the UCPN (M), three from the JSP and one from the Janamorcha. UML has only 38 members in power.
