WHO charting out action plan for health improvement in Karnali
KATHMANDU: AUGUST 11 – The World Health Organization (WHO) has advanced a plan to improve situation of people’s health in Karnali State. To this effect, the global health body is charting out a plan of actions.
At a press conference organized in Surkhet Birendranagar on Tuesday to inform the public about WHO’s ongoing works, WHO Nepal Chief Dr Rajesh Pandey said WHO was doing special ground work to improve situation of public health in the state.
Noting that they would put interventions in line with the action plan of the state, he said they had come to Surkhet to take stock of vaccination, availability of health materials and appliances and future strategies of the state as the state health is comparatively weaker than other states.
“The WHO has its belief that citizens belonging to all groups should be healthy. We are ready to join hands to provide quality health services to the people here”, Dr Pandey said, adding, “It would be easier for us to work only after we access data-based reports from federal and state governments mapping health status and possible areas for health service interventions”.
The WHO has been closely observing the health status of the people of Karnali state and will help improve the health situation of the state people in coming days, he added.
As informed, the WHO had handed over 175 sets of oxygen concentrators to Karnali State Chief Minister Mahendra Bahadur Shahi on Monday.
