POKHARA: AUGUST 9 – The government has forbidden citizens to go out in public places without wearing a mask. Accordingly, those who walk without masks are being fined. However, even the citizens seem to be walking without masks. Let’s not talk about their health, they don’t even care about the government’s fines.

After the COVID-19 Crisis Management Ordinance was published in the Gazette on May 20, the district police administration started imposing fines on those who did not wear masks. The police has been imposing a fine of Rs 100 on those who do not wear masks. You have to pay 200 rupees every time you go to a place where you can’t come and go. Kaski police has also been conducting daily awareness programs to make masks mandatory and implement health standards.

According to Kaski Police Spokesperson Subash Hamal, 1,337 people who did not wear masks were arrested last week alone. A fine of Rs 100 per person was collected from them. Out of which, a fine of Rs. 133,700 has been collected, said Hamal. He further added that 6,717 people have been released after being briefed.

Police have not only collected fines but also distributed masks. Spokesperson Hamal is aware that 1,958 masks have been distributed. “They don’t even take care of their own health,” said spokesman Hamal.

Spokesperson Hamal said that they were forced to collect the fine. Spokesperson Hamal said, “Strict measures have been taken to raise awareness rather than to take fines. Infection is more prevalent here especially in Kaski, Gorkha, Nawalpur and other districts.

The transition rate has been increasing nationwide for the last two weeks. Experts are warning that the third wave could come soon. In recent days, the Ministry of Health has been collecting statistics of more than 2,000 to 3,000 infected people a day.

The government has not been able to come up with a concrete program to control the epidemic. Although the government has announced that its first priority is to vaccinate against COVID-19, the lack of a concrete program has added to the problem. At the same time, the Ministry of Health is without leadership. The problem is exacerbated when the ministry is without a minister.
