KATHMANDU: AUGUST 9 – Prime Minister and Nepali Congress President Sher Bahadur Deuba has said that the government is always committed to ensure the rights of minorities and marginalized groups.
Expressing best wishes to all Nepali indigenous brothers and sisters living in Nepal and outside Nepal on the occasion of World Indigenous Day, he said that this day would raise the rights and issues of all indigenous and unite the indigenous community around the world.
Indigenous peoples around the world are celebrating the 27th World Indigenous Day on August 9 with the slogan ‘Let’s not leave anyone behind: Indigenous peoples and call for new social agreements’.
Prime Minister Deuba said that the Government of Nepal had ratified the provisions of the International Labor Organization on the Rights of Indigenous Peoples on September 13, 2007, and was fully committed to implementing the Convention accordingly.
