Discussion between the Speaker and the Minister of Energy on mitigation of weather damage
KATHMANDU: AUGUST 6 – Speaker Agni Prasad Sapkota and Minister for Energy, Water Resources and Irrigation Pampha Bhusal have discussed the measures to be taken to reduce the impact of the weather disaster across the country.
According to the Speaker’s Secretariat, a discussion was held in the Speaker’s office at Singha Durbar on how to reduce the weather disaster through the House.
It is said that the talks focused on the damage caused to the riverine areas by the weather disaster and the control of river erosion. With the onset of this year’s monsoon, floods and landslides have caused great loss of life and property in Sindhupalchowk, Manang and other districts. As the monsoon continues, they discussed the measures to be taken for the control of river erosion in the flood-affected districts including Sindhupalchok.
Large numbers of people living along the Melamchi, Indrawati, Bramhayani and Bhotekoshi rivers in Sindhupalchowk have been displaced by this year’s unpredictable floods and landslides. Speaker Sapkota has already discussed with Home Minister Bal Krishna Khand and Finance Minister Janardan Sharma about making the current session of the parliament dynamic.
