The government investigation team returned after measuring the tree tied to Tuin (iron rope)
DARCHULA: AUGUST 6 – The probe committee that came to investigate the disappearance of Jaisingh Dhami in the Mahakali River has returned to the site after seven days. An investigation team including security officials from Nepal and India has reached the spot to inspect the incident.
A Nepali security officer and an investigation committee have reached the spot along with the Indian SSB to inspect the Malghat of Byans Rural Municipality -2. An investigation team led by Home Ministry Joint Secretary Janardan Gautam had reached Gasku Malghat from Darchula via Dharchula, India.
The committee that reached the spot has taken measurements of the tree tied to the tuin. According to Jyotsana Bhatt Joshi, a member of the monitoring committee and assistant chief district officer, the site was inspected as per the details given by the investigation team deployed by the district earlier.
A wooden pole has been laid on the Nepali side to cross the Mahakali, while there is a tree on the Indian side, but there are no wires on either side. Officials say there is no evidence that the wire was pulled from the tree. The Mahakali River is about 45 meters across.
Joshi said that the investigation committee had returned from the spot. “The Indian SSB has only facilitated,” he said, adding that “other issues have not been discussed.”
The investigation committee is headed by Joint Secretary at the Ministry of Home Affairs Gautam, Deputy Inspector General of Police, Far-Western Region, Purushottam Kandel, Director, National Investigation Department, Hutraj Thapa, Senior Superintendent of Police, Armed Police Force, Suresh Kumar Shrestha and Assistant Darchula, Prasad Bhatta.
Similarly, Narendra Bam of Armed Police Force No. 44 Darchula and Deputy Superintendent of Police Manohar Prasad Bhatta of District Police Office Darchula also reached the spot along with the investigation team. On behalf of India, a team led by Indian Border Security Force SSB Commandant Mahendra Pratap Singh was present.
The investigation committee has planned to conduct an on-site inspection from Nepal and meet the families of the victims. It is not possible to walk from Nepal. The committee is preparing to go to Malgaun by helicopter.
Demonstration saying that the investigation team came with SSB
CPN-Maoist cadres led by Netra Bikram Chand (Biplav) and locals had chanted slogans saying that the investigation committee had not arrived from Nepal. They showed the national flag and the flag of Chand leadership and demanded to come from Nepal to investigate.
“There is no justification for the SSB to reduce the incident and go with them to investigate,” said Subash Malla, district secretary of the Chand-led CPN-Maoist. The people have opposed it more than we have. ”
“Guess what kind of report will come after the committee sent by the government to investigate under its own supervision is sent,” he said.
