The Rushmoor Council of the United Kingdom gave PPE of Rs 7 million to Gorkha
LONDON: AUGUST 6 – The Rushmoor Borough Council of the United Kingdom has provided PPE assistance in the Gorkha district of Nepal. Rushmoor Borough Councilor Jeev Belbase said the UK’s Rushmoor Council, which last year linked with the district’s Gorkha municipality, had provided more than Rs 7 million in PPE to the municipality.
Another councillor, Rushmoor, Nem Thapa, said that they have provided health care materials including masks, gloves, aprons and shoes to all the local health workers and emergency service personnel and volunteers in Gorkha. Bruce Thomas, chief of Rushmoor borough, handed over the aid to Rajan Raj Panta, chief of the municipality, at a ceremony held on Thursday to formalize the handover, initiated by Councilor Belbase.
In the virtual program, the municipality chief Panta said that the health items handed over by the council would be made available at all levels of the district as per the need.
On behalf of Rushmoor Borough, Council Leader David Clifford, Councilors Belbase and Thapa, Council Head for Democracy and Community Andrew Colver, Greater Rushmoor Nepalese Community President Ramdhan Rai, Gurkha Welfare Trust Chief Gary Ghale, Deputy Chief Gorkha Administrative Officer Dinesh Raj Panta and others were present.
At the handover ceremony, Rushmoor Borough Chief Thomas hoped that the assistance would be helpful for the health care of the people of Gorkha.
