Robotic surgery at KMC for the first time in Nepal
KATHMANDU: AUGUST 5 – Kathmandu Medical College (KMC) is going to perform robotic surgery for the first time in Nepal.
The hospital is starting the treatment of robotic surgery with the latest robotic machine, it has informed in a press conference on Thursday.
According to KMC, the robot has been used in neurosurgery for state-of-the-art and reliable treatment.
KMC has also purchased and connected state-of-the-art equipment such as S8 Stealth System with Guide, NIMS Eclipse Version 4 Ultra Operative / Navigated Drill and MISS System in Neuro Surgery.
The hospital has started the neurosurgery process under the leadership of Dr Amit Thapa, Director of Advance, Neuroscience Center and Senior Neuro Surgeon.
It is said that the robot will assist in the operation plan made by the doctor in the robotic surgery. KMC has stated that the operation will be easier with the help of robots in microscopic and complex surgeries.
So far no robotic surgery has been started in any of the hospitals in Nepal and this surgery is being started by KMC for the first time.
