KATHMANDU: AUGUST 5 – A meeting of the Central Committee of the CPN-UML’s Madhav Nepal faction is being held today. The meeting was convened at 11 a.m. at a party palace in Buddhanagar.

The meeting will formally decide whether to join the government or not, the leaders said. After the Nepal Group made a formal decision from the Central Committee, Sher Bahadur Deuba is preparing to start the work of expanding the Council of Ministers.

Leaders of the Nepali side who did not give a vote of confidence to Deuba are in favor of not joining the government. They are emphasizing the need to unite the party. However, third-tier leaders and parliamentarians are pressuring Nepal to join the government. In the midst of this conflict, the Nepal Group has convened a meeting of the Central Committee to take a formal decision.

The Oli faction said, “Don’t engage in activities contrary to the constitution.”

Chairman KP Sharma Oli’s party has appealed not to participate in the meeting convened by UML senior leader Madhav Kumar Nepal today.

UML central office secretary Sher Bahadur Tamang said that the central committee meeting was not convened today. After the Nepali leader convened a meeting of the central committee today, the UML clarified that the meeting was not convened on behalf of the party.

In a statement issued by Tamang, it is written, “I appeal to the party workers not to engage in unauthorized activities in the name of UML from time to time and to engage in such activities as it is against the constitution, prevailing law and party constitution.”
