Strict vaccination program by Gokarneshwor after finding Vero Cell in hotel [Photos]

KATHMANDU: AUGUST 3 – The municipality has tightened the vaccination program after finding vials and syringes of Vero Cell vaccine in Grace MOmo shop in Besigaun of Gokarneshwor Municipality.

According to Dhundi Raj Neupane, Deputy Superintendent of Police, Boudha Police Station, empty vaccine bottles and materials were found at the spot in Gokarneshwor Municipality.

He said further investigation into the incident is underway. The vaccine was discovered from a preliminary investigation at a nearby pharmacy. Police have arrested two health workers from the pharmacy and released them after general interrogation.

When contacted about the incident, Hari Prasad Upadhyaya, chief deputy secretary of the health department, said that the stock of vaccine in the municipality was not lost.

The municipality is asking for more vaccines in its stock and the locals are being vaccinated with 3,000 doses of Vero Cell on Tuesday. The municipality has conducted vaccination program in each ward with the recommendation of the local ward chairperson.

Vaccination has been started in all 9 wards from 8 am to 10 am and after 11 am, vaccination has been started at local allied secondary schools.
