Hospital beds are filling up in Kathmandu Valley due to the spread of COVID-19
KATHMANDU: AUGUST 2 – The number of coronaviruses has increased again in Kathmandu Valley. Hospitals have reported an increase in the number of infected people as the second variant has become less common.
At present, the number of coronavirus patients in the hospital has also skyrocketed. The number of patients at Sukraraj Tropical & Infectious Disease Hospital has increased in the last five days. The hospital has informed that the ICU and ventilator are full. A doctor at the hospital informed that the treatment was started in the parking lot of the hospital due to the lack of beds along with the pressure of the COVID-19 patient.
Similarly, the number of new patients of COVID-19 in Patan Hospital has increased unnaturally in the last two weeks, said Ravi Shakya, director of the hospital. Shakya said the number of new cases of COVID-19 has increased by 30 per cent compared to the previous days. Shakya said that it was difficult to admit new patients in Patan Hospital with 300 beds, ICU and ventilator reserved for Kovid patients.
After the second prohibitory order imposed on Nepal APF Hospital Balambu due to COVID-19 infection, only 40 beds were filled with patients out of 200 beds. Hospital Information Officer Prabin Nepal informed that there is a shortage of beds in the hospital as the number of patients is still increasing. Nepal said that the pressure of patients with other diseases has also increased in the hospital.
