Malaysia reports 17,150 new COVID-19 cases, 160 more deaths

KUALA LUMPUR: AUGUST 1 – Malaysia reported another 17,150 new COVID-19 infections, the Health Ministry said on Sunday, bringing the national total to 1,130,422.

Health Ministry Director-General Noor Hisham Abdullah said in a press statement that one of the new cases is imported and 17,149 are local transmissions.

Another 160 more deaths have been reported, bringing the death toll to 9,184.

A total of 11,326 patients have been released after recovery, bringing the total number of cured and discharged to 925,965 or 81.9 per cent of all cases.

Of the remaining 195,273 active cases, 1,059 are being held in intensive care and 531 of those are in need of assisted breathing.
