State 1: Meeting of the State Assembly after about a month
BIRATNAGAR: AUGUST 1 – The meeting of the State Assembly of State 1, which has been postponed indefinitely, is scheduled to be held on 5 August. The meeting was adjourned indefinitely after the budget for the next fiscal year was passed.
Secretary of the Secretariat of the State Assembly Gopal Prasad Parajuli informed that the eighth meeting of the State Assembly and the 22nd meeting of the Budget Session, which was adjourned on July 9 until further notice, will be held on 5th August on Thursday. After the budget was passed, the meeting was adjourned indefinitely on the issue of naming the states. It is yet to be decided whether to name the state or not.
A few days ago, the Chief Minister of State 1, Sher Dhan Rai had even discussed the nomination with the leaders of the parliamentary parties. During the discussion, the participants said that they can talk about how to move the issue of name forward only after discussing with the party.
The lawmakers representing the state assembly have been expressing concern that the name of the state will not come up during their tenure.
While all the states have already rehabilitated the states, State 1 and 2 have not been able to give names yet on the issue of identity.
Koshi, Sagarmatha, Kirant, Limbuwan and Birat are popular in State 1. Although a meeting of the state assembly has been called, it is not clear what the agenda will be, according to the state assembly secretariat.
