Complaint against SSB in Indian police station, demand for action [With complaint]
DARCHULA: AUGUST 1 – The victim has lodged a complaint with the Indian Police Station alleging that Jaisingh Dhami fell into the Mahakali River and went missing after the Indian SSB cut his tuin at Malghat in Byans Rural Municipality-2 of Darchula.
A 33-year-old Dhami fell into the Mahakali River on Friday morning while crossing the Tuin (Iron made rope) via India to reach Khalanga district headquarters. Dhami’s relatives have lodged a complaint at the Pangala-based police station in India demanding action against the two SSB.
They said that they have registered a petition demanding action against the two SSB who cut the tuin and threw it into the river while Dhami is crossing the river. It is mentioned in the complaint that after the incident, the SSB showed fear and intimidation and warned not to talk about the incident. SSB personnel had fled the scene after the incident.
A relative of the missing Dhami, Bahadur Singh Dhami and Joga Singh Dhami, lodged a complaint at the Pangala Police Station on Friday. Citizens of both countries have been using tuins on the Mahakali River for transportation.

Since the past, the SSB has been cutting the tuin on the Mahakali River. According to a local, two SSB reached the spot after receiving information about someone is crossing the river through tuin. Eyewitnesses say that the SSB cut the tuin while Jaisingh was about to cross the river.
The District Administration Office, Darchula, had also written a letter to the Indian Pithoragarh District Magistrate regarding the fall of Tuin. Replying to that, the Indian side has claimed that the Indian SSB was not involved in the operation. The Home Ministry has formed an investigation committee headed by the Home Secretary to investigate the incident.
Spokesperson of the Ministry of Home Affairs, Nepal Police Far Western Province Police Chief and Assistant Chief District Officer of Darchula are members. A team of Armed Police Force, Nepal Police and National Investigation Department has been deployed at the spot to investigate the incident.
