India’s claim that Jaisingh fell into the river in a panic
DARCHULA: AUGUST 1 – The Indian side has responded to the disappearance of 33-year-old Jaisingh Dhami in the Mahakali River while crossing the Tuin (Iron made rope) at Malghat in Byans Rural Municipality-2 of Darchula. According to a letter sent by the District Administration Office Darchula to the Indian administration on Friday, the Indian administration sent a reply on Saturday.
Chief District Officer Siddharaj Joshi informed that Ananda Swaroop, District Officer, Pithoragarh, India, has sent a formal reply to the District Administration Office, Darchula. He claimed in the letter that the SSB had not cut Tuin.
According to him, India has said in the letter, “Jaisingh was frightened when he saw the SSB while throwing the wire towards Nepal. He himself fell into the river. It is not the fault of the SSB.” Instead, the Indian administration has also formed a rescue team to assist the Nepali team in the search for Dhami, said Joshi.
“The letter was sent stating similar behaviour,” he said. “The so-called eyewitnesses are also being questioned and further investigation is underway.” According to him, the letter states that the Indian side was on duty in the SSB Malghat area at the time of the incident.
The letter sent by the District Officer of Pithoragarh has been sent to the Ministry of Home Affairs by the District Administration Office, Darchula. The local administration had written to the Indian SDM office on Friday asking for help in investigating the incident after eyewitnesses said that Dhami had gone missing after falling into the River after the Indian SSB pulled the rope.
A team from the District Police Office, Armed Police Battalion No. 44 Battalion and National Investigation District Office has been mobilized to search for him, according to the District Administration Office. The Home Ministry on Friday formed a team to investigate the incident.
