A large quantity of sugar was recovered by evading customs
KANCHANPUR: JULY 30 – Police have recovered a large quantity of sugar being brought in a mini truck from Bedkot Municipality-10 Daiji Beldandi Road Section on Thursday evening.
A joint team of police from the Far Western State Police Investigation Team (RIT) and the District Police Office, Kanchanpur, recovered the truck on the basis of information that sugar was being smuggled in the truck. According to Siddharaj Neupane, Deputy Superintendent of Police, District Police Office, Kanchanpur, 98 bags of sugar were recovered from the truck.
According to him, the value of the recovered sugar is Rs. 318,500 and the value of the seized Tata mini truck is Rs. 681,000 and the total value is Rs. 999,500. The mini-truck with sugar and its driver Bharat Bista has been handed over to the Gaddachauki Customs Office for necessary action as per law.
Meanwhile, police have also seized 42 quintals of sugar brought from India by Bikki Gupta of Bhimdatta Municipality-1 Bhasi today. Police raided Gupta’s warehouse and recovered sugar worth Rs 273,000. Gupta was taken under control along with the recovered sugar and handed over to the customs office at Gaddachauki.
