KATHMANDU: JULY 29 – The ruling coalition has agreed on ‘power sharing’. A secret meeting of the leaders of the ruling coalition on Thursday decided the division of the ministry. As per the agreement of the coalition, the party led by the government has got the most number of ministries.

Congress will get eight ministries including the Deputy Prime Minister. Similarly, a leader who participated in the meeting informed Makalu Khabar that the Maoists and People’s Socialist Party had agreed to get 7/7 equal ministries. The Madhav Kumar Nepal faction of the CPN-UML has decided not to join the government immediately. The three ruling parties have reached an agreement on power-sharing after the Nepal group said it would not join the government.

Although not participating in the government, the coalition has agreed to include the Nepal group in political and constitutional appointments. ‘They (Nepal group) said we will not join the government. Therefore, we have shared the ministry among ourselves, ‘the leader said,’ but it has been agreed to give them a better chance in political and constitutional appointments. ‘

On Thursday, Prime Minister Sher Bahadur Deuba had requested CPN-Maoist Central Committee Chairman Pushpa Kamal Dahal ‘Prachanda’ to name the minister as the cabinet should be expanded immediately. He also asked for immediate distribution of the ministry. After the meeting between Deuba and Prachanda, the leaders of the alliance were engaged in discussions on power-sharing. Senior leader Ram Chandra Poudel, General Secretary Purna Bahadur Khadka and leader Krishna Prasad Sitaula from Congress, Chairman Pushpa Kamal Dahal ‘Prachanda’ and spokesperson Narayan Kaji Shrestha from UCPN (Maoist) and Upendra Yadav, Baburam Bhattarai and Ashok Rai from People’s Socialist Party were present at the discussion.
