KATHMANDU: JULY 28 – The class 12 examination will be held from the home centre. Considering the risk of COVID-19, it has been decided to take the exam from the home centre this time, said Durga Aryal, member secretary of the National Examination Board.

Speaking at a meeting of the Parliamentary Committee on Education and Health on Wednesday, Member Secretary Aryal informed that preparations have been made to get the result from the internal assessment of class 10 but it has been suggested to take the examination in physical attendance and not from the internal assessment of class 12.

According to him, there are one thousand schools with less than 28 students in class 12, 2300 schools with less than 50 students, 3400 schools with less than 100 students and 89 schools with more than 500 students. The class 12 examination is being conducted from 15 to 25 August.

In the meeting, MP Khagraj Adhikari suggested making arrangements for not having a teacher of the same school while taking the exam from the home centre. “Otherwise, it may be stolen and passed,” the official said. MP Man Bahadur Bishwokarma said that no work should be done so that students could not pursue higher education.

MP Mankumari GC said that health safety standards should be strictly implemented while conducting the examination. MP Giriraj Mani Pokharel, on the other hand, said that physical attendance could not be secured unless teachers and students were vaccinated against coronavirus. He also said that Nepal had managed to save the academic session even in the midst of the Corona epidemic.

He said that the local government should be given the responsibility or authority to observe the school so that the school does not do anything in the internal evaluation. Replying to a question from the lawmakers, Secretary at the Ministry of Education Ram Krishna Thapaliya said that the examination was being conducted as per the decision of the CCMC. He said that the CCMC has asked the examination centres to adopt health safety standards and manage accordingly.
