Viral fever patients increased
MAHOTTARI: JULY 28 – The number of viral fever patients at the District Hospital Jaleshwor in Mahottari has skyrocketed. According to Dr Satish Shah, Medical Superintendent and Acting Chief of the hospital, the number of viral fever patients in the district hospital has skyrocketed in the last five to seven days.
He said that 60-70 per cent of the patients who come to the district hospital for treatment are suffering from viral fever. According to him, an average of 50 people come to the hospital daily for treatment of viral fever.
Dr Shah said that the outbreak of viral fever has been seen in the people due to the change in the environment due to extreme heat and occasional rains in the Terai Madhesh for the past few days. He said that due to climate change, when a person’s body is very hot and when the body is still hot, sudden soaking in water or drinking cold food causes viral fever due to ‘infection’ when the body cannot adjust the temperature properly.
In such a situation, people should not panic, drink more liquids, drink more water, eat and drink and pay attention to public health standards including sanitation, Dr Shah has urged everyone.
