ISLAMABAD: JULY 27 – Pakistan’s law enforcement agencies foiled a terror bid by arresting two terrorists in the country’s northwest Mardan district of Khyber Pakhtunkhwa (KP) province, the Counter-Terrorism Department (CTD) of police said on Tuesday.

According to the CTD of police in Mardan, the raid was conducted on the terrorists’ hideout after police were tipped off about their presence in the district, and two terrorists belonging to a banned outfit were arrested in the operation.

The militants were planning to attack sensitive installations in Mardan, the CTD officials told media, adding that the arrested terrorists were also wanted by the police in multiple terrorism-related cases.

The terrorists were involved in various incidents of terrorism in KP province, said the officials.

During the raid, explosive material, safety fuses, detonators, hand grenades and pistols were recovered.

The militants were shifted to an undisclosed location for further interrogation shortly after their arrest. A case has also been registered against them, according to the CTD officials.
