Locals are not satisfied with compensation
KATHMANDU: JULY 25 – Locals affected by the hydroelectricity project in Phukot Karnali expressed unhappiness about the compensation determination for them. The compensation paid for your land is lower than the current rate.
The District Rate Fixation Committee does not determine the price correctly, as it differs for the rural road and the corridor in Karnali said Ananta Bara of Raskot-8. The land rate around the rural road is Rs. 3,600 to 5,700 a square metre while Rs. 1050 square metre is used for the land surrounding the Karnali corridor.
In Raskot, Sannitriven and Pachaljharana, this project will take over 1,294 plots of land.
In the meantime, Hiraman Waiba, head of hydropower, has stated that the determination committee headed by the District Chief has set the rate and that nobody’s rightful compensation is denied.
It is reported that the project has this year allocated Rs. 360 million to pay compensation for local people’s land. The local people will also receive 10% of the project, says Waiba.
