Long distance public transport operated, such is the new fare
KATHMANDU: JULY 24 – Long and medium distance public transport has started operating from today. Transport businessmen have brought long and medium distance vehicles into operation from today after the District Administration Office, Kathmandu, decided to operate them according to health standards.
The District Administration Office, Kathmandu, had issued a notice on Friday to operate long-distance public transport, making the University and Public Service Commission examinations central. The administration has requested the passengers to travel only by taking tickets from the counter and has also instructed the transport businessmen to follow the health standards.
This is the new fare
The government has announced an increase in long-distance public transport fares. Based on the increase in the price of petroleum, public transport fare has increased by 20 to 28 per cent.
The Department of Transport Management had increased the fares of passenger vehicles by 28 per cent, freight vehicles operating on hilly roads by 20 per cent and freight vehicles operating in the Terai by 26 per cent as per the ministerial decision of the then Minister for Physical Infrastructure and Transport Basanta Nemwang.
