PM Deuba vows to live up to words made during government formation
KATHMANDU: JULY 23 – Prime Minister Sher Bahadur Deuba has said the government would live up to the promises that were made during its formation.
While responding to queries raised by leaders of the parties in the House of Representatives (HoR) today, the Prime Minister said all eligible citizens would be administered the COVID-19 vaccines no matter how much the price it had to pay for it. The programme was organised to congratulate (new) Prime Minister Deuba.
The Prime Minister assured of meeting the national aspiration for prosperity and made it clear that the government would work visibly keeping the interest of the nation at first by taking support and cooperation of all political parties.
The Prime Minister went on to say,” We had, at the call of the President, submitted a proposal with the signatures of a majority of lawmakers to form the government. If the proposal was accepted, we could win a vote of confidence at that time, but the proposal was not entertained by the President.”
In his reply to a query from the then Constituent Assembly (CA) chair whether lawmakers winning the elections from the particular political party are liable to the party whip in the aftermath of Supreme Court’s verdict, the Prime Minister said,” Lawmakers were just requested to be present during a bid to secure a vote of confidence, there was no such whip for them.” He thanked lawmakers who supported him to win a confidence motion in the House of Representatives.
