Congress meeting: Leaders’ stand that the general convention should be held on the pre-determined date
KATHMANDU: JULY 23 – The meeting of the top leaders of the ruling Nepali Congress is underway. General Convention-centric discussions are being held in the meeting. The meeting is discussing the changes in the general convention schedule, active membership dispute resolution, election directory and others. In the same meeting, discussions are being held on how to hold the general convention within the pre-determined time as preparations for the convention are nearing completion. Deuba, on the other hand, has been in a small mood for some time.
Chairman and Prime Minister Sher Bahadur Deuba convened the meeting at his private residence in Budhanilkantha. Party office-bearers, former office-bearers and central members have been invited to the meeting. After Deuba became the Prime Minister, the Congress convened a meeting at the Prime Minister’s official residence in Baluwatar last Thursday. After the meeting, the new government, like the Oli government, was criticized for trying to work for the party from its official residence. After this, Deuba called a meeting at Budhanilkantha.
The ward level convention of the Nepali Congress is scheduled to be held from 27 July. However, it has not been prepared. Even when the ward level convention has to be postponed, the leaders are in favor of not postponing the date of the central convention. Therefore, the leader said that they are preparing to change the date of the lower level convention and maintain the date of the general convention of the centre.
