Biratnagar traders rush to solve tripping problem in power supply

BIRATNAGAR: JULY 23 – The industrialists of Biratnagar, who have been facing the problem of electricity, have drawn the attention of the government to solve the problem. Meeting the newly appointed Minister Pampha Bhushal, the businessmen of Biratnagar have requested to pay attention to the solution of the power problem immediately.

During the meeting chaired by the Morang Trade Association, the traders urged to solve the electricity problem of Morang Sunsari Industrial Corridor. Chairman of the Morang Trade Association, Prakash Mundada, said that the Secretary along with the Minister was drawn to the problems faced by the industries in Katahari Village Municipality and Morang-Sunsari Industrial Corridor.

Despite the 33 kV line connection in the surrounding areas including Katahari village under the Morang-Sunsari Industrial Corridor, it has been pointed out that it is difficult to operate the industries due to tripping, low quality and irregular power supply, said Mundada. Entrepreneurs say that most of the industries have been forced to cut production due to irregular power cuts.

It has been pointed out that even in the rainy season, maintenance work is sluggish, industry and business are deteriorating and due to these problems, the overall productivity of the corridor has declined and billions of rupees have been exported, Mundada said, adding that concrete steps should be taken to address the existing problems.

Entrepreneurs had pointed out that the cost of industries has increased due to the continuous increase in electricity tariff and demand tariff and the burden is falling on the consumers as well. Senior Vice President of the Association, Nabin Rijal, said that the request was made to reduce the cost of industrial production and manage quality electricity supply. The team of the association consisted of industrialists Mahesh Jaju, Pawan Kumar Sarda, Nabin Rijal and Prakash Mundada.
