BAGLUNG: JULY 19 – A footpath has been constructed to climb the tourist lake. Under the Prime Minister’s Self-Employment Program, 800 meters of footpath has been constructed from the budget of Rs. 567,000 allocated by Galkot Municipality last fiscal year.

Chairman of the construction committee Ganga Bahadur Kaucha informed that a footpath has been connected from Siddhathan to Gothathari of Galkot-10 Pandabakhani. According to him, a stone ‘soling’ has been constructed at 455 meters and a staircase at 350 meters. The locals had also contributed Rs. 50,000 on the footpath. Fifty workers were employed in the construction of footpaths from June 29 to July 14. The committee has stated that the workers have been paid Rs. 517 a day.

Chairman Kaucha said that the footpath work was done at risk during the rainy season. With the construction of a well-organized footpath, it will be easier to walk. “We believe that the footpath has been constructed for the purpose of attracting tourists. It will also help in the promotion of tourism,” said Khim Bahadur Pun, chairman of Siddhathan Community House. He says that the footpath has made it easy and quick to climb the hill. There is a community housing service in seven houses in Siddhathan. Domestic tourism is also connected with the house. Located at an altitude of 3,110 meters, Ghumte is one of the most attractive destinations in the district. There is a fair every year on the day of Baishakhe Purnima and on the occasion of New Year. There is a belief that worshipping Siddha and Bhairav on the axis of the veil will fulfil one’s aspirations.

Galkot Ghumte Tourism Development Center has been organizing Gurans Utsav for the past eight years on the occasion of New Year. Dozens of varieties of Rhododendron bloom in Chait-Baisakh in a veil full of biodiversity. From the top of the Ghumte hill, one can see the beautiful places of the neighboring districts. Ghumte is a suitable place for sunrise and sunset views. To reach Ghumte Lake, which is included in Galkot Municipality and Tarakhola Municipality, a footpath has been connected to Harichaur and Malma. Work is underway to open the road to connect Ghumte with the road network.
