UML central committee meeting today, will action be taken against those who do not follow the instructions
KATHMANDU: JULY 19 – A meeting of the Central Committee of the main opposition CPN-UML is being held today. The meeting has been called at Tulsilal Amatya Pratisthan in Chyasal at 11 am.
Though the meeting will mainly focus on the party’s legislative general convention, the party will also discuss the issue of the lawmakers who will give a vote of confidence to Prime Minister Sher Bahadur Deuba in the House of Representatives on Sunday, said party office secretary Sher Bahadur Tamang. Thirty-two UML lawmakers did not vote against Deuba.
Of them, 22 voted in favor of Deuba and 10 abstained. According to Tamang, those who cast their vote of confidence and those who remain neutral will not be treated equally. Monday’s standing committee meeting decided that those who voted for Deuba would not stay in the UML.
However, the UML is preparing to take action against the government under Article 76 (5) of the Constitution, citing other reasons. “No action will be taken on the issue of a vote of confidence, but action will be taken on other issues,” said Tamang.
