Saune Sakranti being observed in Sudurpaschim

KATHMANDU: JULY 16 – Saune Sakranti festival is being observed in the districts of Sudurpaschim State today with great fanfare.

The farmers after completing the paddy seedling plantation are celebrating the Saune festival by being together among the family members and relatives.

Likewise, this day is also considered as ‘Luto Phalne Din’ in the hilly districts of Sudurpaschim State.

People in Sudurpaschim have a belief that the scabies in their body gets cured by taking a bath after smearing yellow soil in their bodies by visiting the riverbanks. As the earth moves from the north to the south, the days will get shorter and the night will get longer from today.
