DHARAN: JULY 15 – A bus park is to be built in Dharan, located in State No. 1, to make up for the lack of a bus park. Dharan, which has been operating a bus park from Bhanu Chowk, the heart of the city, for a long time, will now get a well-equipped smart bus park. An agreement has been signed between Dharan Sub-metropolis and the contractor company on Wednesday.

The sub-metropolis has signed an agreement with construction businessman Gitanjali JV Duhabi Sunsari. The agreement was signed in the presence of Deputy Chief Tilak Rai, Deputy Chief Manju Bhandari, and Chief Administrative Officer Bidur Prasad Khanal, said Suraj Shrestha, Chief of Planning and Engineering Division. A smart bus park is to be constructed in the multipurpose area of the three-cornered beautiful settlement development project at Dharan-8.

The contractor company will move ahead with the construction work within 15 days, said Engineer Shrestha. According to him, an agreement has been signed with the contractor company to complete the construction of the bus park at a cost of Rs 231.5 million. The agreement stipulates that the construction should be completed within three years. Fifty percent of the grant is from the Government of Nepal and 50 percent from the internal resources of the sub-metropolis.

Chief Rai said that the sub-metropolitan government has been able to move ahead with the long-delayed plan by signing an agreement. For the development and prosperity of Dharan, there was a plan to build a bus park for a long time.

Although the foundation stone was laid two years ago when Deputy Chief Bhandari was the acting chief, the construction work could not move forward due to a land dispute. The bus park is being constructed in coordination with the center on the initiative of Deputy Chief Bhandari.

Such is the structure

Chief of Planning and Engineering Division Shrestha said that there are only 30 blocks of land for bus park in the project.

Apart from that, there is an additional five blocks of vacant land in the sales plot. Drain and aging work for the bus park will be done first. A paved road will be built around it. According to the detailed project report (DPR), the smart bus park will have three floors including the basement. The basement will have parking for 200 small vehicles and 150 motorcycles.

The ground floor will have a capacity of 49 buses. The ground floor is designed to accommodate 12 different routes. There will be a passenger-targeted structure on the third floor of the bus park. The DPR mentions that there will be a cafe, library, and trading room on this floor.
