KATHMANDU: JULY 14 – At the Thankot Depot Nepal Oil Corporation, five student unions today demonstrated against the price increases of petroleum products.

Petroleum pumps are being obstructed throughout the country by students who are agitating against a rise in the price of oil products. ANNISU-Revolutionary, ANNFSU-Madhav Nepal Group, the Socialists and Students Union (Upendra Yadav), Akhil Sixth, all Nepal’s Student Union (Nepal Students Union) have forged the Alliance to protest against the rise in petro-products. They met at Thankot for the sit-in protest, which started at 9:30 a.m.

The supply was obstructed by students’ protests, according to Chief Abhishek Thakur. “Since this morning, students have been assembled in the main entrance to the depot.”

However, today’s protest will not lead to an immediate shortage of oil products, as most pumps delivered on Tuesday evening.

According to the National Association of Nepal Petroleum Dealers, certain petrol pumps remained shut in the Kathmandu Valley today because of student protests while many dealers remained open. According to Leelendra Pradhan, Association Chairman, petro dealers at schools and schools nearby were shut by students.
