Local level gives public holiday on Bhanu Jayanti
KATHMANDU: JULY 13 – Bhanu Municipality here announced a public holiday on the occasion of Bhanu Jayanti today. The municipality decided for the public holiday with due respect to the pioneering poet of the Nepali language, Bhanubhakta Acharya.
All government offices, educational institutions, and public bodies are closed after the announcement of the holiday today. Aadikavi Bhanubhakta was born at Chundi Ramgha village of Bhanu Municipality in Tanahun on Ashar 29, 1871 BS. Similarly, he died on Ashoj 6, 1925 BS.
Although the birth anniversary of pioneering poet Bhanubhakta used to be celebrated for a week with the gathering of Nepali literati from Nepal and abroad, the COVID-19 caused disruption on it for two years.
Municipality Mayor Udayaraj Gauli informed that a poetry recitation and tribute program is being organized at the office of the Bhanubhakta Birthplace Development Committee today.
