UML task force meeting ended without any conclusion
KATHMANDU: JULY 10 – The meeting of the UML task force ended without any conclusion even today. According to Gokarna Bista, a member of the negotiating team formed on behalf of the opposition UML, the task force failed to reach a consensus in today’s meeting. Leaving Singha Durbar, Member Bista said, “An agreement can be reached by tomorrow.” Maybe good news will be heard tomorrow. ‘
The members of the task force termed today’s meeting as ‘decisive’. However, no agreement was reached. Although the task force said that it would prepare a blueprint for consensus today, the blueprint could not be made. Especially on the issue of ‘power sharing’, the UML task force has not been able to make any concrete progress so far.
Though the UML task force, which has been continuously sitting since July 5, has said that it will maintain unity by returning the party completely on 16 May 2018, the balance of power is not being restored. A member of the establishment party said, “He (Madhav Kumar Nepal) has said that the balance of power will be maintained.” No agreement has been reached as it does not seem possible immediately.
In order to maintain UML unity, Chairman KP Sharma Oli, who is also the Prime Minister, and Leader of the Opposition UML, Nepal, had a discussion last Wednesday. However, no agreement was reached. During the meeting at the Marriott Hotel, Chairman Oli kept saying, “Withdraw the signature from the Supreme Court,” but the Nepali leader did not speak. In response, the Nepalese leader said that one person should go according to the concept of one post and requested to leave one of the posts between the Prime Minister and the Chairman, where Chairman Oli was also unresponsive.
Now, according to the members of the task force, a solution will be found from Sunday’s meeting.
