Former Maoist leaders tell Election Commission: ‘Decision must be made soon’
KATHMANDU: JULY 9 – UML leaders with former Maoist backgrounds have urged the Election Commission to take a quick decision on their writ petition. The leaders urged the commission to take a quick decision on the writ petition filed seeking the dismissal of the Maoists.
UML standing committee members Top Bahadur Rayamajhi, Mani Thapa, leader Prabhu Sah, and other leaders reached the commission and met Chief Commissioner Dinesh Thapaliya. “They came,” said Rajkumar Shrestha, a spokesman for the commission. “They said in their application that a quick decision had to be made.”
The former UCPN (Maoist) leaders who joined the UML had filed a petition claiming that the UCPN (Maoist) had not held the party’s general convention since 2069 BS and had deceived the commission in the name of party unity.
According to leader Prabhu Sah, the commission has assured to take a decision soon.
