Interracially married couple living in the forest (With Video)
KATHMANDU: JULY 9 – A couple who got married in Kailali has been forced to hide in the forest for 21 days. Prakash Bishwokarma and Malati Rawal of Jhaljhaliya in Bhajani Municipality-4 of Kailali have been forced to hide in the forest for 21 days after their inter-caste marriage. They are making a video saying, “The family has told us that the Rukum incident may happen again.”
Although Prakash and Malati have come to the village from time to time, they have been hiding in the forest. After Malati’s relatives warned Prakash to kill him and burn down his house, they were forced to go and live in the forest, Prakash said in a video. Hiding in a forest in Kailali, they have released a video of themselves in trouble from the forest.
Dalit activist and JB Bishwokarma shared the video on Twitter. In the video, they talk about the mental and social discrimination they face during interracial marriages. After the video became public, efforts are being made to bring them back home in coordination with some Dalit activist and relatives of the youth.
