Former Maoist leaders going to the Election Commission
KATHMANDU: JULY 9 – After the decision of the Supreme Court on 7 March 2021, the leaders of the former UCPN (Maoist) are going to the Election Commission. Leader Gauri Shankar Chaudhary told Makalu Khabar that they were going to the Election Commission to understand the activities of the Election Commission in their writ petition. He said, “We had filed a writ petition in the Election Commission demanding the abolition of the Maoist center.” On top of that, we are going to understand the work being done by the commission. ‘
Former Maoist leaders Prabhu Sah, Mani Thapa, and Chaudhary are going to the commission under the leadership of leader Top Bahadur Rayamajhi. Leader Lekhraj Bhatta, on the other hand, has decided not to attend the commission due to ill health. Former Maoist leaders Sah, Rayamajhi, Bhatta, and Chaudhary are directly elected members of the House of Representatives from the Maoist Center.
The Maoist center had taken action after the leaders changed parties. As soon as the Maoists took action, his parliamentary seat was revoked. They have filed a writ claiming that the action taken against them is not only illegal but also the Maoist center is illegal.
