Cheese centres in Rasuwa resume production

RASUWA: JULY 8 – The cheese production centers located at Langtang, Gatlang, Chandanbari, and Dhunchelek have resumed their production from June 15 and 2,121 kilograms of cheese has been produced.

Though preparation was made to produce cheese from April 14, it was delayed by two months following the death of the Chief of Dhunche center from Coronavirus infection and prohibitory order imposed by the local administration.

Milk of 1,900 yaks is supplied at the four cheese centers of Rasuwa under Dairy Development Corporation.

Chief of Langtang Cheese Centre, Gyalbo Tamang, said that around 2,150 liters of milk is collected every day. Farmers selling yak milk get Rs 100 per liter of milk and 87 farmers have been benefitted from this.

Chandanbari Cheese Centre has moved ahead with a target to produce 7,000 kg of cheese and 1,500 kg of butter, as well as 6,000 kg of cheese and 2,000 kg of butter by Langtang cheese center as per DDC’s direction to run the centers only for three months.

Similarly, Dhunche center has set a target to produce 8,000 kg of cheese and 2,400 kg of butter while Gatalang center has been producing cheese and butter without any target.
