Dilip Kumar, legendary actor, passes away
NEW DELHI: JULY 7 – Famous Indian actor Dilip Kumar has died at the age of 98 in Mumbai. He has acted in more than 65 films in his five-decade-long film journey.
He was recently admitted to the hospital with difficulty in breathing. Kumar’s wife Saira Banu is also a Bollywood actress. They have no children.
Kumar started his film career in 1994 with Jwaar Bhata. But the Andaz that came out in 1949 made him famous. Nargis and Raj Kapoor also starred in the commercially successful film, which later became popular actors.
He was born in December 1922 in Peshawar, Pakistan. He was born in Peshawar, now in Pakistan, and was named Yusuf Khan. Like some of his Muslim colleagues, he was given the Hindu name Dilip Kumar when he entered the Hindi film industry.
Lord Meghnath Desai, who wrote Kumar’s biography, has compared him to the famous Hollywood actor Marlon Brando or Marcello Mastroyanni of Italy. He had garnered many fans from successful films like Mela, Naya Daur, Ganga Jamuna, Devdas(1955) and Mughal-e-Azam.
