Italy in the final, beating Spain in a tiebreaker
KATHMANDU: JULY 7 – Italy has entered the final of Euro Cup football by defeating Spain. Italy came close to the title by defeating Spain 4-2 in a tiebreaker.
The match was extended to extra time after the scheduled 90 minutes ended in a 1-1 draw. The result of the game was taken from the tiebreaker as no goal could be scored even in extra time.
In the tiebreaker, Gerard Moreno and Thiago Alcantara scored for Spain, while Dani Olmo and Alvaro Morata failed to score. For Italy, Andrea Belotti, Leonardo Bonucci, Federico Bernardeschi, and Jorginho scored while Manuel Locatelli missed a penalty.
Earlier, in the 60th minute of the first half, Italy took the lead through a goal by Federico Chiesa. Then, in the 80th minute of the game, Alvaro Morata scored for Spain to level the game 1-1.
Italy will now play the winner of the second semi-final between England and Denmark in the final. The second semifinal will be tonight.
