Pushpa Kamal Dahal will attend the funeral of UCPN (M) leader Yadav
JANAKPUR: JULY 6 – CPN (Maoist Center) central member Mahadev Yadav has passed away. Yadav, who has been suffering from cancer for more than three years, died at the age of 57 on Monday night, according to his family.
Yadav died at his residence at Mujelia in Janakpur-14 around 10 pm on Monday, said Deepak Yadav, district secretary of the UCPN-M. According to Yadav’s nephew Shyam Yadav, Yadav was treated at various hospitals in Nepal and India.
He had been undergoing treatment at home on the advice of a doctor at the Bharatpur Cancer Hospital in Chitwan. Yadav will be buried at Swargadwari in Janakpurdham today, said Deepak Yadav, district chief of the party.
According to Secretary Yadav, the funeral will be attended by CPN-Maoist Central Committee Chairman Pushpa Kamal Dahal ‘Prachanda’, Standing Committee Member and former Prime Minister Matrika Prasad Yadav, and other top leaders.
Yadav has three children including two daughters and a son. Yadav, a native of Balabakhar in Shahid Nagar Municipality-1 of Dhanusha, had participated in the people’s war waged by the then CPN (Maoist) from the very beginning. He also served as the command of Mahottari, Dhanusha, and Siraha. Last time he was a central member of the party.
Leaving Jeti’s permanent job, Yadav became active in communist politics. Yadav, who was also elected as the vice-chairman of Dhanusha Balabakhar VDC, was active in the Maoist-led people’s war under the influence of the then leader of the region, Ram Briksha Yadav.
Later, he was given the responsibility of the commander of Mahottari and Dhanusha by the party. Leader Yadav had become the candidate from Constituency No. 5 of Dhanusha from the CPN-Maoist in the first CA election of 2064 BS.
