KAVREPALANCHOK: JUNE 19 – The bodies of those who died due to Corona infection are being managed in the district. After waiting for hours at the electric crematorium in Pashupati area of Kathmandu, it is said that management has been started in Kavrepalanchok as an alternative body management.

The district’s COVID-19 Infection Control, Prevention and Treatment Center (DCCMC) last month decided to make alternative preparations to manage corpses in the district as the death rate from Corona infection is on the rise. “Alternative management has been started in the district as we have to wait for our turn at the electric crematorium at Pashupatinath in Kathmandu,” said Shivaram Pokharel, Center Coordinator and Chief District Officer.

According to Pokharel, the bodies of the Corona infected are being cremated at the local ghats(place where dead bodies are burnt) of the district while the bodies of Corona infected people from other districts are being taken to Kathmandu for management. Additional preparations will be made to manage the death of the Corona patient who is being treated at the district hospital in Kavrepalanchok. Alternative autopsy management preparations are expected to be of great help in the event of a ‘third variant’ and its potential damage, according to various recent reports.

According to Pokharel Municipality, the bodies of the victims have been shifted to Dolalghat Bagar on the border of Bhumlu Rural Municipality, Roshi Rural Municipality to the local Vyakure Khola, Chaturephedi Ghat and Charungephedi Ghat, and Bhaleshwar Mandir Ghat in Panauti Municipality.

“If the relatives of the deceased want to participate in the management of the body, we are also planning to give it according to the health criteria,” he said. The district headquarters Dhulikhel and the surrounding towns of Banepa and Panauti have stated that they are looking for a common place in the management of the bodies of the infected corona.

The bodies of those who died of Corona infection in Kavrepalanchok were taken to the crematorium at Pashupati in Kathmandu by the Nepal Army of Kalijung Battalion in Dhulikhel. The city of Panauti, on the other hand, said that the bodies of the infected corona could be managed at six local ghats.

Mayor Bhim Prasad Neupane said that four PPE-sets and coffins could be arranged to manage the bodies of the deceased in home isolation. The center has requested the local level to identify and send the bodies of the deceased from Corona. The bodies have been identified from the local level in the first week of May.

The Chaurideurali Village Municipality in Koshi East had managed the bodies at the local level for the first time since the second wave of Corona started last week. According to the Center, only Panchkhal, Mandandeupur, Chaurideurali, Bhumlu, Khanikhola and Roshi, which are far from the district headquarters, have identified and sent the bodies. “As only the local level far from the district headquarters has identified the location and sent it, it will take more manpower and cost to move it away, so we have started identifying the nearest location,” said Pokharel. Kavrepalanchok has six municipalities and seven village municipalities.

Meanwhile, the data of the Center has shown that the infection rate has decreased in Kavrepalanchok since last week and the number of people recovered from the infection has increased. In the last 24 hours, Corona infections have been confirmed in 38 and 127 cases have been recovered. On the previous day, 40 cases of Corona were reported and 263 were recovered. The death toll in the district has been falling to zero in the last few days, according to the Center. So far, 159 Corona infections have died in Kavrepalanchok.

Currently, out of 1,056 active infected people in the district, 234 are in Banepa, 76 in Panchkhal, 187 in Dhulikhel and 130 in Panauti, 73 in Namobuddha, 38 in Mandandeupur and 50 in Chaurideurali, 65 in Roshi, 14 in Temal, 57 in Bhumlu, 11 in Khanikhola, 17 in Bethanchowk and 104 in Mahabharat, the center said.
