638 more arrested in Myanmar
YANGON: JUNE 11 – Authorities say another 638 protesters have been arrested in Myanmar. According to the Terrorism Act, they have been arrested by government officials.
Of those arrested, 49 have been charged with arson and 61 with murder, while 256 have been charged with disrupting security and detonating explosives, and 272 with terrorism.
The security forces also recovered small arms, bombs and explosives, home-made guns, home-made weapons and various weapons and explosives, security forces said on Friday. A state of emergency has been declared in Myanmar since February 1 and civil unrest is taking place.
Myanmar’s military has seized control of a number of government-led and party-led parties, including the pro-democracy leader Aung San Suu Kyi. Hundreds have been killed so far in the uprising, which has been marred by the military’s takeover of power. -ANI
