Is the T20 World Cup moving from India?
KATHMANDU: JUNE 7 – The T20 World Cup scheduled to be held in India in October-November is likely to be shifted to UAE and Oman.
The news agency PTI (Press Trust of India) has claimed that the BCCI is trying to shift the tournament to UAE and Oman with the ICC as the host BCCI, citing the growing Corona infection in India.
Although the UAE has always been the first option, Muscat, the capital of Oman, is ranked fourth after Abu Dhabi, Dubai and Sharjah for the tournament in the last week of October. Citing a senior ICC official, PTI said.
The BCCI has asked the board for four weeks for a final decision. But internally, they will remain the organizers, but the competition will not be different in Dubai and Oman.
Oman will be linked with 16 teams in the first round. Most members of the ICC board have concluded that there will be no competition in India.
Because more than 120,000 infections are still seen every day and reports warn that the third wave of epidemics will start at the scheduled time, the chances of a competition are slim.
He also said that there was a possibility of foreign players not coming to India if the tournament was forced and the BCCI was also trying to hold the IPL in the UAE.
